Carnation, forms a mat of grey green leaves and has scented double pink flowers in summer. This needs well drained soil in full sun, and ideally an alkaline soil which we don't have in Aberdeenshire, but it grows well in my garden. Trim off the dead heads and flower stems straight after flowering. Sold in a 1 litre square pot.
